The First World
Long ago, a race known as the Tol’vir controlled the area that is now known as Uldum. The Tol’vir was a race of humanoids with the faces and bodies of lions, but the chest and arms of humans.
The Tol’vir fought a great war with the dragon Deathwing who devastated their lands and town and almost wiped them out. The Tol’vir managed to destroy Deathwing (or did they simply trap Deathwing within the mountains that surrounded their land?); but at great cost to themselves.
With their land devastated and their numbers decimated, the Tol’vir retreated into one of their cities and cut themselves off from the rest of the world; never to be see again.
Recently the governor of the province; of a much larger human kingdom that had claimed the lands that were once ruled by the Tol’vir; gained access to a powerful artifact, a mask, that changed all of the people of the province into a creature with the lower body of a lion, the upper body of a human and a face akin to a human/lion mix ( Tol’vir).
With these powerful warriors at his call, he proclaimed himself Pharaoh of a new land and declared his independence from the larger kingdom.
The Pharaoh recently opened the borders of Uldum to adventurers who are willing to explore ruins uncovered when the country claimed its independence.
In exchange for recovering items of cultural significance, the adventurers will be allowed to take portions of the treasure with them.
